This video showcases an experiment that combines a universal constructor and a universal copy machine to build a von Neumann-style self-replicator. At the beginning of the experiment, all parts of the self-replicator, including the universal constructor, universal copy machine, and information string, were placed in the middle surrounded by building material. The experiment successfully demonstrates full self-reproduction, resulting in a copy of both the universal constructor and the universal copy machine, as well as an information string that is also copied. Notably, the lack of an outer boundary in the environment causes the entire system to act as a fuzzy self-reproducing system. At the end of the experiment, other copies of the universal constructor and the universal copy machine started to work, even though they were not fully finished, and affected the dynamics of the environment, causing the system to become chaotic.
