The U.S. Department of Energy’s Critical Materials Innovation Hub is led by Ames National Laboratory. Part of CMI efforts in Education and Workforce Development is offering the CMI Leadership Academy for early to mid-career researchers. The Academy developed the first CMI short course, which describes the process for sourcing materials through manufacturing magnets. In 2024, the half-day short course was offered in five sessions. These total more than three hours, and the videos are now available on YouTube.
The CMI Hub brings together researchers in industry, universities and national laboratories, which collaborate to accelerate innovative scientific and technological solutions. These develop resilient and secure supply chains for rare earth metals and other critical materials. With a Team dedicated to research and outreach, CMI demonstrates that it can accelerate the process of delivering technological solutions to the marketplace.
