A visual preference survey is a tool for the public to give feedback and participate in a planning process by rating visual concepts of existing policies, designs, and standards. Visual preference surveys can be presented live in a meeting or through an online survey. This course focuses on interfacing with one visual survey tool, StreetSeen. Developed at The Ohio State University by your instructor, StreetSeen uses Google Street View and a user-friendly engine for creating distributable visual preference surveys. This course provides an overview of the types and formats of visual preference surveys, methodologies, and analyses.
This chapter presents a live demonstration of StreetSeen. Topics include navigating the user interface, creating new surveys and survey areas, selecting images for the survey, and distributing and managing results.
