Join us on a 3 day canoe trip in the Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park. On this trip we paddle to Fishog Lake and make a day trip to Crooked Lake, including Round Lake and Long Lake. This is a backcountry camping canoe trip in Ontario. We camped for three nights on Fishog Lake. The is part of an un-managed park and there are no fees or reservations required. It was late September and the weather was cool and cloudy for part of the time, but we did have some nice sunny periods. After getting settled into our site on the first day, we made a long day trip up the Head River to Crooked Lake on our second day. We were able to see Crooked lake Lodge, a fly-in fishing camp, before heading back to our site. We met a few cottages are the way who told us some interesting stories about the area. We had a rest day around the campsite on our third day, and we left for home on our fourth day. This was a fairly easy trip, with less than a 1-hour paddle to reach our site on Fishog Lake. There were no portages on the way in, and only a few short portages on our day trip to Crooked Lake. Nothing was too difficult, and this would be considered an easy trip.Queen Elizabeth II Wildlands Provincial Park is a 33,505 hectare park that contains more than 100 habitat types and is a vast biological engine renowned for its rock barrens, and beaver fens. Although extensive, this habitat is fragile please follow the principles of leave no trace.The QE2 Wildlands is a non-operating park with no maintained public facilities or services. Be prepared to use appropriate route finding and safety practices as interior travel beyond access points requires complex navigating in a remote semi-wilderness environment. This park provides unique opportunity for a sustainable, semi wilderness recreation experience.
