Does Welding Cast Iron on Both Sides Make it Stronger? Lets find out! We recently repaired this broken cast iron using a flux core welder and flux core wire. For that repair we welded it on one side and then measured it's strength until it broke. But what if we welded it on both sides. Would it be stronger? That's what I wanted to find out. We repaired the same broken cast iron again using the same flux core wire and flux core welder, except this time we welded it on both sides and then tested it again to see if welding both sides makes it stronger or weaker. I was not expecting the results of our test.
