This symbol is now commonly associated with the infamous English magician John Dee, who had claimed to see this sigil in a vision which he believed was brought to him by angels. The Sigil of Ameth predates John Dee by about three centuries however the sigil was central to and often still associated with the Enochian magic performed by John Dee and Edward Kelly.
