The small business segment has very different ERP needs. Compared to other market segments such as startups or mid-market. Small businesses are not small as startups where they can remain on siloed systems. They also don’t have as much process sophistication. And their needs are primarily transactional in nature. Their data and processes may not be as aligned, not to mention their teams’ experience in being sophisticated with MRP processes. Finally, their implementation budget is limited too. So the setup and training required for advanced processes may be out of their reach.
When it comes to their budget, it might be less than $100K, and the capacity required to support the implementation may be limited too. In this segment, most ERP systems are likely to have pre-integrated options with third-party add-ons or OEM-provided, as these businesses can’t afford to spend on expensive integrations. These products also don’t have deep layers of configuration. So the consulting help required to set up these products might not be as significant.
