The Talakona Waterfall is located in Nerabailu village in Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh. It is situated in the Sri Venkateswara National Park and Talakona forest Range. With a total height of 270 feet, it is the highest waterfall in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Talakona’s literal meaning in Telugu is Head-Hill, but the Allegorical meaning is "the head of the Seshachalam hills". Talakona Forest has the presence of an exotic variety of flora and fauna.
The talakona forest is not famous only due to the waterfalls but also because it hosts the most endemic and endangered species and medicinal plants. In the forest, one can find endangered species like Porcupine, Mouse deer, Slender Loris, Indian Giant squirrel, Chital, Golden Gecko and Endemic species like Entrada, Cycasbeddomeii. Several rare giant plants, sandalwood trees are present in the thick and dense forest. One of the most famous belief joint with the Talakona waterfall is its healing therapeutic qualities present in the water because the water cascades through several medicinal plants and herbs.
