"Supporting STE Experiencers" by Dr. Pier Luigi Lattuada, president of EUROTAS, the Global Transpersonal Network, and Isabel Clark, senior member of the UK Spiritual Crisis Network, presented at the Spiritual Awakenings International Conference 2023 on June 10, 2023, sharing their expertise on increasing awareness of Spiritually Transformative Experiences (STEs), and spiritual emergencies, and their approaches to helping people integrate STEs and other transpersonal experiences.

Dr. Pier Luigi Lattuada – "Trans-Cognition: A Coherent Hermeneutics of Spiritual Awakening." Dr. Lattuada shares his own spiritual awakenings STEs. and how they led him to his current understanding of consciousness and STEs. Crossing the threshold of awareness, he sees that the thinking function goes beyond reasoning and is firmly founded on pillars of awareness, such as presence, attention, inspiration, vision, creative imagination, spiritual will, intuition, and insight. Human experience thus reaches the heights of the highest qualities and transpersonal states, which have been masterfully described by Maslow and Grof, among others. But, when we come back to an ordinary state of consciousness, reasoning starts again, dual mind organizes and integrates the experience following the same old habits of thinking, the prior conditioning and identifications. The "Trans-Cognition" model focuses on stages of thinking in addition to states of consciousness, and how both unfold in a holistic evolutionary, and proposes a non-dual, supra-rational way of thinking in order to integrate STEs through integral transpersonal hermeneutics.

Dr. Pier Luigi Lattuada M. D., Psy. D. Ph. D. is the Founder of "Biotransenergetics", a new integrative transpersonal psychotherapy approach. Pier Luigi Lattuada is the CEO of the Integral Transpersonal Institute of Milan, Italy. He is also director of the Transpersonal Psychotherapy School in Milan, which is fully recognized by the Ministry of Education University and Research since 2002. He is on faculty and chair of the Department of Integral Transpersonal Psychology at Ubiquity University. He is the President of EUROTAS, the Global Transpersonal Network. Pier Luigi Lattuada has published twenty books and several scientific articles.

Isabel Clark - "Hope and Support for Travelers Between the Worlds: the Work of the UK Spiritual Crisis Network." The UK Spiritual Crisis Network was founded in 2005 and has provided online support, face to face groups, volunteer training and conferences to increase awareness of STEs and Spiritual Emergencies ever since. To those finding themselves in disturbing and disorienting situations, it offers a hopeful message that this could be a journey of transformation, if managed safely. The Network offers sound advice on how to achieve balance through grounding in the present and maintaining a foot in both worlds. The UK Spiritual Crisis Network creates space, over Zoom as well as face to face in some locations, for fellowship with others on the same journey.

Isabel Clark is a consultant clinical psychologist in the UK NHS and a founding member of the UK Spiritual Crisis Network. Her books, "Psychosis and Spirituality – Consolidating the New Paradigm" and "Madness, Mystery and the Survival of God" explore the themes of spirituality, mental health and being human. She is currently engaged in developing a holistic, non-diagnostic way of working within the NHS, explained in her latest book, "Meeting Mental Breakdown Mindfully – How to Help: the Comprehend, Cope and Connect Way."
