Fohat
One of the key concepts in Blavatskyan Theosophy is the concept of Fohat which is sometimes referred to as Cosmic Electricity. H P Blavatsky claimed that the word is Tibetan is origin.
Fohat is described as a cosmic, electro-spiritual energy that is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the universe. It is said to be the power force that creates and shapes matter, and is the driving force behind all physical and spiritual phenomena. It is the expeditor of Cosmic Ideation and divided primordial matter into seven planes, and creates the laws of nature
According to H P Blavatsky, Fohat is said to be the intermediary between the unmanifested and the manifested, and is responsible for the movement and activity of all forms of energy in the universe. It is said to be the source of all life, and is responsible for the creation and evolution of all species on Earth.
Fohat is also said to be same energy as Kundalini and therefore the source of all spiritual knowledge and wisdom. It is believed that those who are able to tap into the power of Fohat are able to achieve a higher state of consciousness, and are able to access universal knowledge and understanding.
In her Theosophical Glossary published in 1892, H P Blavatsky describes Fohat as follow;
Fohat (Tib.). A term used to represent the active (male) potency of the Sakti (female reproductive power) in nature. The essence of cosmic electricity. An occult Tibetan term for Daiviprakriti primordial light: and in the universe of manifestation the ever-present electrical energy and ceaseless destructive and formative power. Esoterically, it is the same, Fohat being the universal propelling Vital Force, at once the propeller and the resultant.
