Welcome back to 'How It Works'. In this episode we’ll be showing you how to locate and use the towing eye should you need it for winching or recovery.
Firstly, locate your towing eye. This varies depending on your vehicle.
For the Transit Connect this is located in the rear of the vehicle.
For Transit this can be found under the passenger seat.
For Ranger it is part of the chassis rail. This can be found under the front left wheel arch.
And for the Transit Custom it is found in the engine bay. Except on the Custom PHEV variants,
where it is under the passenger side seat.
Then, for the vehicles without the fixed towing eye, locate the front towing eye cap.
Carefully prise open and screw the towing eye into place using an anti-clockwise motion.
It is important to check that it is fully tightened. Then, simply attach your towing rope.
There is also a looped towing eye located beneath the rear bumper of each vehicle.
This should only be used for winching and recovery purposes and not for towing loads.
For more information you can always refer to your vehicle handbook or local Ford Dealer.
