What makes Neocaridina Shrimp like Red Cherry Shrimp for example, relatively easy to keep is their ability to thrive in a wide range of water parameters. They’re generally hardy and can adapt well to different environments. They also have a higher tolerance for less-than-ideal conditions compared to more sensitive species.
Feeding Neocaridina Shrimp is straightforward. They’re not picky eaters and will readily accept a variety of foods, including pellets, algae wafers, blanched vegetables, decaying and organic matter like biofilm, and algae that naturally grow in the tank.
These shrimp do not require complex tank setups. A basic planted tank with some moss, driftwood, and hiding places is usually sufficient. They can thrive in tanks as small as 5 gallons, although more space is always better.
Breeding Neocaridina Shrimp is also quite easy. Given the right conditions, a small group of shrimp can quickly turn into a thriving colony of 100 or more. This is often one of the most rewarding aspects for hobbyists.
Check out the following video where I rate 8 shrimp species I keep on a scale of 1 - 5 based on how straightforward their overall care is.
