Filmed on 02/09/2021. As the summer season comes to an end and the cooler weather moving in, it is time for a day of rest bite as we venture once again to the North East. Starting of with the last station in North Yorkshire before the gateway to the North East and where the railways all began. Its a welcome back to Darlington (Season 8 Episode 27)

A station which has 4 platforms only but also with by pass lines which misses Darlington station and continues along the East Coast Mainline. No freight sadly but quite a few changes compared to my last visit to this station in 2019. LNER now operates nothing but Azuma class 800/801 units which now operates beyond York to North East and Scotland. Its out with the class 142 Pacer buses and in with their replacements: Northern's Perkins 158's and a few Newton Heath based class 156's which are now operating services in the North East.

During a hour and 20 minutes trainspotting, this is the variety that is seen:

Transpennine Express Class 802 Nova 1
Northern Class 156
Northern Class 158
