A group of local students got futuristic this weekend, as they prepared for a massive North American robotics competition.
The Halton District School Board hosted a kickoff event at Craig Kielburger Secondary School Saturday, ahead of the “Inspiration and Recognition in Science and Technology” or “FIRST” robotics competition season.
“FIRST” introduced a unique game that students will compete in during a broadcast streamed across North America.
Two alliances of three teams compete to score points with cubes and cones to “Charge-up” their community.”
Eight High School teams from Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills will be taking part in this year’s competition for a chance to build the best robot.
