New COVID-19 infections in the United States have reached their highest levels since late July.
It is the world's worst affected country, with more than eight million cases and 220,000 deaths.
President Donald Trump has been widely criticised for his handling of the pandemic. But he claims that if he had listened to the country's top infectious diseases expert, the situation would be much worse.
