Filmmakers rarely give audiences loving, affectionate moments between female characters. Sleepless in Seattle (1993), directed by Nora Ephron, who also worked on the screenplay, includes a loving relationship between best friends Meg Ryan and Rosie O’Donnell. In this scene Ryan and O’Donnell speak on the phone and exchange I love yous. Although the inclusion of such a moment between two women may not sound like anything to get excited over it is actually a rare occurrence in film.
