Sewage spills and illegal electricity connections continue to plague eThekwini Municipality. Residents in parts of the city are fuming after months of an unbearable stench from broken sewage pipes and overflowing manholes. Cable theft is another major challenge, leaving communities in the dark for days. A recent Auditor-General preliminary report has found discrepancies in the budget spent. eThekwini has only met 46% of its targeted objectives for water, sanitation and electricity.
