More than 50 years after The Holocaust, this Austrian Documentary examines the history of the Jews in Vienna. It is a story of alternating toleration and expulsion dating back to the 10th Century when the first Jewish community in Vienna began. Vienna's unique culture owes much to its Jewish residents. Vienna's Jews like Sigmund Freud, Theodore Herzl, Gustav Mahler, as well as numerous writers, painters and architects are discussed in the film. Even the celebrated Johanne Strauus had Jewish ancestors who influenced his music. Former Jerusalem Mayor Teddy Kollek and Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal remember Vienna Jews who were victims of the Nazis and find hope in today's generation of Austrians. (30 min)
