When GEUS researchers go on field work on the Greenland Ice Sheet they need to know how to move around safely on a glacier. That's why the glaciologists go to a glacier in Iceland to practice glacier safety on a regular basis. In March 2022, twelve people went on a three day course at the Icelandic Sólheimajökull, practicing terrain analysis, rappelling, crevasse rescue and much more.
