An eruption of the Taal volcano in the Philippines today, on March 26th 2022.
A 1.5 kilometre cloud of ash and steam was emitted as the volcano erupted, filling the sky and blocking the sun.
Thousands of citizens were evacuated within a 7 kilometer radius, as debris rained on local settlements. Residents have also been advised to wear masks due to deteriorating air quality.
There are fears of further eruptions and seismic activity, with the risk of tsunamis in the area. The Volcanos threat level has been raised to Level 3 in response to today's events.
