The sounds of the African savanna at dusk
As the sun sets in the savanna, the soundscape changes dramatically. Lush birdsong fades away while the piercing calls of insects become louder. The transition is not instant though. This crepuscular shift is barely noticed when you're out in the field, aware of every little sound around you.
An enhanced type of awareness takes place, potentially caused by being in a new environment, the danger from big mammals who come out at dusk, the beauty of the soundscape itself, and even an annoying fear of missing out on some interesting event. Being out in the savanna at dusk is simultaneously a very slow and quite a dynamic experience.
Sit back, relax and immerse yourself in the sounds of the African bush at dusk. Don't think too much about what you're hearing. Take it all in and let it flow through your auditory cortex. Lastly, take a minute to check if this is a short video loop or a static image, and let me know what you think in the comments below. Enjoy!
