STORYLINE:
Security was tight in the Vietnam capital Hanoi on Thursday as regional leaders began arriving for an ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit.
World and regional leaders were expected to launch a last-ditch plea from the meeting this week for free and fair elections in military-run Myanmar, where at least one other Southeast Asian country (Philippines) has already dismissed the upcoming polls as a 'farce'.
