7. SOUNDBITE (English) Salvador Brotons, composer and conductor of Vallès Symphonic Orchestra:
“When I design a concert for Christmas, you need to think about the big audience. And the big audience, they always want to listen to some favourite Christmas songs. But they should be not only about that. It’s very typical in Christmas celebrations to do some Viennese waltzes. That’s a European tradition.”

13. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Lidia Lopez, Voxpop:
“Wonderful. I loved it. I love music and I love choirs. And to top it all, to be at a place like this one. At times I thought I was in Vienna, because of the music. But it can’t be compared to the Sagrada Familia. It was wonderful.”

15. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Aitor Garcia, Voxpop:
“Being at a concert or any other activity, to be here at the Sagrada Familia is enough of a present. We have in our city one of the world’s biggest tourist attractions. And if you top it with a prestigious choir like the Orfeo Català, the result is a top-class event such as this one.”

18. SOUNDBITE (Spanish) Marta Otzet, cultural and education director for Sagrada Familia basilica:
“During the past years we’ve been inaugurating different towers. When we inaugurated the tower dedicated to the Virgin Mary (in 2021), it was a very special moment. Because during that Christmas we were able to bring light to a new tower, topped with a star that gave light and hope to the city. Because we were coming out of the pandemic. Last year we inaugurated the last two of the four towers dedicated to the Evangelical Apostles. And right now, we are waiting for the inauguration of the main tower (dedicated to Jesus). We are living all this with great joy. Because at last we will have accomplished Antoni Gaudi’s dream.”
