Travelling in Namibia in order to see more than the typical tourist goals, means a lot of "Off Road" driving. Dangers vary from getting stuck by sand or mud, when crossing rivers to loosing the motor oil by stones destroying the crankcase. Water and food supplies will be soon exhausted in such a case and of course, there is no telephone connection in these areas.
The driver needs a rapid abilty to react with both hands and feet, but also the outside navigator needs at least 4 hands if he wants to combine puting the right stones in the right holes of the track, pointing to the driver, shooting a film and preventing the man-eating flies from landing in his nose and ears. Nevertheless, at the end the tires were gone, but the car is still largely intact, which is not the case for all cars as can be seen in the last pictures.
