Well, now that I know what a Douglas fir looks like, I know that the tree I've been calling a Douglas-fir is not. So now it is time to officially identify this tree. Could it be Scotch pine?
I know that there is no visible orange on these trees. But the branch pattern, bark, and cones point me in the direction of the Scotch pine. After the editing process I notice that maybe it could be a Jack pine as well.
In this video I travel back to all the places where I went to in the previous videos of this series. I am determined to get to the bottom of this. I am trying to compare the dead trees to live trees known to be Scotch. It is confirming my suspicions.
Please leave suggestions if you think you might know what these trees are and leave a like if you enjoyed my video. Thanks.
I will be returning to Stalker Steve's woods as soon as I can to get a look at his Scotch pines. Either the Scotch pines in his woods will be the same as this mystery tree or completely different. If different the mission continues. If the same, and my suspicions are correct, then we have solved the puzzle and learned something new.
~I still plan to return to Kalamazoo to video the Douglas fir more. I may even get Steve to take me where he works and get pictures of the real Douglas fir there. He has shown me pictures of his Douglas-fir from work and they are definitely Doug-fir trees.
Tune in to part nine to see where I go from there.
This is getting very exciting! We are nearing the end of this series. I have learned so much! After the series is completed I will be hosting a one hour live discussion to wrap it up. I can't wait! I know only a few are interested in this series but I'm so glad I ran with it and shared. There is so much to be learned and shared. So very glad a few of you have enjoyed. Thank you so much. : )
