Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is one of the most famous attractions in the Swiss Alps. It’s as popular with skiers as it is with other tourists all year round.
At 3883m, it is the highest place in the Swiss Alps that can be reached by a cable car. Because of its altitude, there’s a lot of snow throughout the year which allows skiing and other winter sports in all seasons.
A short staircase leads to the viewing platform outside from where you can see many of the highest peaks of the Alps. The view is indeed breath-taking, although the thin air and gusts of glacial wind may make climbing those stairs a little challenging.
A cinema lounge inside displays films about the Alps. A narrow tunnel will take you to the Glacier Palace, which is a cavernous space inside the glacier created by carving it. It is adorned with numerous beautiful sculptures made with ice and snow.
There is also a restaurant with a panoramic view as well as a mountain lodge for accommodation.
