Building off the 'Nightmare on Elm Street' movies, iconic villain Freddy Krueger returned in a syndicated series. In each episode he would introduce supernatural/horror themed stories - two 30-minute stories each week, leaving the door open to syndicate a half-hour version of the show down the line. It ran for two seasons (1988-1990); the eerie theme is by Nicholas Pike. When Wes Craven sought to bring Richard Englund to tv again, the script was flipped. Freddy became Blackie, and now he's a good guy giving people second chances to fix wrong turns in their lives. Audiences were probably expecting something with more bite, and the Cafe closed shop after six episodes. The theme is by J Peter Robinson who had scored several Craven flicks.
