vitaQuake II is a source port of Quake 3: Arena, and it has now been ported to libretro so that it can run on RetroArch! What you see here is the game running at 1440p resolution at a silky smooth 120fps, using fixed time steps for the least amount of frame time deviation.
This core currently requires OpenGL. It currently won't work with OpenGLES 2.x or GL 2.x and up, so it requires your OpenGL driver implementation to have legacy OpenGL fixed function support. There might be more options available soon so that there will be more options for other platforms.
This core is available right now on our buildbot for Windows, Mac and Linux, and can be downloaded from RetroArch by going to Online Updater - Update Cores and downloading 'vitaQuake 3'.
To use the core, you start a Quake 3 PAK file. You can use either the demo or the full retail version.
NOTE: Multiplayer does not work yet, so right now you can play singleplayer against bots. No ETA on when multiplayer support will be added, but we'll keep you posted.
