Why make it from sheet metal? Well not to discriminate against wood, but metal will last A LOT longer. Production wise you will build 10 of these in the time you build one from wood. Costing will be more or less the same per unit, but metal will be cheaper per 10 units and cheaper the more you build. At the end of the day, it's just about personal preference.
