The iconic Lion Sands Game Reserve, by MORE Family Collection, is set in the exclusive, game rich Sabi Sand Private Reserve in Kruger National Park, South Africa. It is home to 4 luxury safari lodges (Tinga, Narina, River, Ivory) each with a different flair. The lodges are set along the banks of the perennial Sabie River, each with breath-taking views and the comfort of African contemporary luxury. 5 Star accommodation, sensory comforts, intuitive service, good food and fine South African wine come together to promise a safari in style; a Lion Sands Original. Catered on road and off road game drives, bush walks, bird watching, clay pigeon shooting, helicopter rides, and hippo tours are among the long menu of activities to choose from during a stay at this legendary reserve.
Tinga Lodge:
With only nine private suites, the lodge style is grand and spacious with a feeling of historical opulence. The main areas are double volume opening out onto breath-taking wooden viewing decks which end a few feet from the Sabie River. A sophisticated safari experience in nine waterside havens, capturing the romance of the pioneer era. The lodge’s exclusive suites are set apart on a high bank up from the Sabie River. Your Suite feels definitely private with its own plunge pool and deck overlooking the water, and makes the most of a view that often sees wildlife passing through. From the Suites, elevated wooden pathways lead off to a spa sala and the main lodge – with its bar lounge, library, poolside and boma offering spaces to share good company or spend some quiet moments on your own.
Narina Lodge:
Perched amongst a canopy of 100 year old trees overlooking the Sabie River the style is that of a luxurious treehouse where the main areas link via raised wooden walkways to the nine private suites. Narina Lodge has an air of relaxation, enhanced by natural décor and an open design extending out to generously furnished decks from where you can enjoy panoramic views of the Sabie River. Here you can watch the animals feeding on the riverbank and engage in the social chatter this inevitably stirs, or meditate on the rustle of the leaves. Leading off from the main lodge, raised wooden walkways connect to a spa sala and individual Suites. Narina Lodge offers exclusive suites, with private plunge pools and viewing decks overlooking the river.
River Lodge:
A home away from home in the bush. This lodge is all about nature, warmth and luxury. Lion Sands River Lodge is situated on the banks of the Sabie River, allowing unparalleled game viewing. Tranquil rooms are connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways. The lodge’s eight Luxury Rooms, six Superior Luxury Rooms and four River Suites are spaced along a path to reveal splendid river views, and make for a very personal safari stay. This is where couples, families and friends come together to reconnect with one another and Mother Nature.
Ivory Lodge:
A modern style, 6 suite only - exquisite lodge on the Sabie River. Indulge yourself in the huge villas, all equipped with lounge area, private swimming pool and open plan bathroom. This is one of the highest end, uber-luxe lodges in the Sabi Sands Reserve.
Treehouses:
The Treehouses offer big views of remote Africa, globed by even bigger star-lit skies. Below, the stillness is punctuated by animals’ whistles, huffs, growls… carried on the breeze. Soak up the sounds of the bush and sleep under a canopy of a million stars whilst staying overnight in one of the Lion Sands Treehouses. A night in a treehouse can be booked as an add on when staying at one of the Lion Sands lodges. Whether you choose for the Chalkley treehouse, Kingston treehouse or Tinyeleti treehouse: you can be sure to have an unforgettable experience.
The private reserve conserves 10,000ha (25 000ac) of habitat that is home to the highest and most diverse concentration of wildlife in the southern hemisphere. You can see all of Africa’s iconic species here, including all of the Big Five, along with a supporting cast of no less intriguing 137 mammal species and over 450 varieties of bird – while having minimal encounters with other people.
From boma feasts to bush picnics, dining promises to be a highlight for all of guests – with any dietary requirement, including kosher, catered for. The chefs transform local recipes into contemporary dishes, giving you a taste of Southern Africa. Paired with wines from our collection of premium Cape labels, enjoying a meal becomes an experience in itself. The Lodges also offer wine tastings – a favourite of connoisseurs and dabblers, alike.
