In this video, I milled a maple log into live edge maple slabs. I used my Stihl MS 881, 41” Stihl Bar, 48” Grandberg Alaskan mill, and Archer ripping chain. The Stihl MS 881 is an absolute workhorse. That saw with a Grandberg mill is a perfect combo. I also really like the archer ripping chains. Out of the box, they are terrible. Once you sharpen them, they are great angle hold an edge comparable to any other ripping chain I’ve used.
What would you use these live edge maple slabs for once dried and surfaced? Coffee/river coffee table, bench, something else? Comment below.
