The Watford Gap works involved the installation of;
- 1 no. 194m bore of 1 no. 355mm diameter SDR-11 PE100 specification Carrier Pipeline under the M1 at Watford Gap Service Station in Northamptonshire
- 1 no. sub-ducting of 1 no. 225mm diameter SDR-17 PE100 specification Rising Main into the 355mm diameter Carrier Pipeline
In order to directional drill at the location, OCU Utility Services, part of the OCU Group, proposed to ream back the pilot bore to the required diameter to accept the carrier pipe sub-ducted with the rising main water pipeline.
Once completed, OCU Utility Services pulled the pipe into place using bentonite and polymers as required.
