arina Ubisse Capitine is a ceramicist whose primary interest is researching traditional making techniques using the most basic materials and elements. Capitaine's interest in the traditional ceramics in Mozambique and throughout Southern Africa is also related to her interest in the role women play in the making of ceramic work and a search for a vocabulary that articulates her practice within a broader feminist context of celebrating herself and the women that came before her.
