How to become clever? Chanakya
Chandragupta Maurya, also known as Chandragupta or Chandragupta Maurya, was an ancient Indian emperor who founded the Maurya Empire, one of the largest and most powerful empires in Indian history. He is best known for his conquests and his association with his mentor and strategist, Chanakya, also known as Kautilya or Vishnugupta.
Chanakya, a renowned political thinker, philosopher, and strategist, played a crucial role in Chandragupta's rise to power. He is believed to have authored the political treatise "Arthashastra," which provides insights into statecraft, governance, and diplomacy.
Under Chanakya's guidance, Chandragupta overthrew the Nanda dynasty and established the Maurya Empire around 322 BCE. His reign marked a significant period of political and territorial expansion in ancient India, with the Maurya Empire eventually encompassing most of the Indian subcontinent.
Chandragupta's rule was characterized by efficient administration, economic prosperity, and social stability. He is also remembered for his adoption of policies that promoted the welfare of his subjects, including the establishment of a network of roads and the organization of a spy network for internal security.
After ruling for several years, Chandragupta is believed to have abdicated the throne and embraced asceticism, eventually retiring to a Jain monastery in South India. His legacy, however, continued through his descendants, most notably his grandson, Ashoka the Great, who became one of the most celebrated emperors in Indian history.
