In this video we will be demonstrating the features of the Flaming Coals Portable Camping Spit Roaster
The spit comes complete with a 1600mm long stainless steel skewer and is great for cooking roasts, chickens, suckling pigs or lambs.
The spit comes with a motor rated to turn either 20kgs, 30kgs or 60kgs, depending on which motor you choose. The 20kg motor can run off either a 12v battery or the 240v transformer which are both provided. The 30kg and 60kg motors are both 240v and have the cords attached. All motors turn 5 revolutions per minute, have all metal gears, are fan cooled and it comes with a 2 year warranty
In addition to the motor, the Portable Camping Spit Roaster comes with a two piece skewer which joins in the middle, making it easy to carry and store. The two piece skewer also allows you to use one half of the skewer at 90cm long when doing smaller cooks.
It also comes with a quick release pin to attach the skewer to the motor, 2 large prongs and 1 back brace. All accessories which come into contact with food are made from 304 food grade stainless steel. It is also important to mention that the skewer is round rather than square so you’ll always be able to get replacement parts and accessories off the shelf rather than having to get parts custom made which can be expensive.
One of the most important features of cooking with a spit is the ability to adjust the height the skewer sits over the coals. As you can see, the Portable Camping Spit has a very simple easy height adjustment function which allows the meat to be adjusted whilst cooking.
The stands measure 82cm from the ground. The base of each stand has 4 holes to allow the included tent pegs to be inserted. This allows the stands of the spit to secured properly into the ground and ensures the spit remains stable
The Portable Camping Spit Roaster can be used to cook directly on the ground over an open fire, or to mount over a fire pit or 44 gallon drum.
The Australian designers at Flaming Coals designed and tested this spit in Australia for use by Australians. It is easy to assemble with English written instructions.
Overall, for a spit roaster of its quality, it is exceptionally well priced and you would be hard pressed to find this kind of quality in its price range. With a 2 year warranty and all the accessories being made from 304 food grade stainless steel, you can’t go wrong.
