Folks, this was my first "real" relic hunt in 2022. I am trying to narrow down the number of detectors I currently own so I have been doing some comparisons by doing live digs to decide which ones to keep.
The GPX 5000 is not part of the comparison; I just used it to help find targets in the hot ground. I have already made the decision that the GPX 5000 will be my go to detector for known hot mineralized ground and for sites that have been beat-to-death.
I'm trying to compare the XP Deus II vs Equinox 800 vs Tarsacci MDT 8000 to see which one I plan to use for my normal relic hunting metal detector. This is a most difficult task to carry all these detectors and gear to the places I detect, but I want to see how they perform in a real live dig situation.
I dig several Civil War bullets in this video and I lay one on top of the inverted dirt clod to show you how the detectors respond to it. Then I rebury it and do the same. A lot of time and effort went into this relic hunt and I learned a lot; I hope you do as well.
There are Nine Live Digs on this video with most of them comparing all three of the detectors mentioned. I wondered away from my other detectors and make a couple of finds with the GPX 5000 alone. My goal as always is to let you hear the sounds and see the VDI numbers. Although I mention the VDI numbers, I typically go by the sounds.
Here's a little disclaimer. I always try to use a detector without doing too much study on it the first couple of times to get a feel for how user friendly they will be to me. I never read the XP Deus II manual in it's entirety until after this video. In doing so, I see that had I used the Relic program and set the IAR (Iron Amplitude Rejection) to 5 that I would have had more confidence in the machine. The XP Deus II is much more powerful than you will see in this video.
I'm not trying to sway anyone in either direction as too which detector is "best" as that's impossible as everyone's taste and needs are different. I'm only trying to figure out which work best for me.
I hope you enjoy being with me on these metal detecting adventures and that you will keep following me on YouTube and Facebook. Together, we can Save a lot of Local History.
I would like to thank all of you who watch my videos and I'd like to encourage you to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't done so already. It's free and it helps me to stay motivated to keep making the videos.
I hope you enjoy the video and that you will share it with others.
