Mr. Mahesh Hariani is a Photographer by profession & founder of The Jaipur Photography School, Jaipur. He said every day is an award for him. He shared that “generally we think that an award is in a form of a trophy or a certificate but if we achieve something even very small in life on a day to day basis, I Consider it as an award & it’s a celebration for me”.
He added to it that he belonged to a middle-class family & did his schooling till 7th standard from St. Xavier School, Jaipur. Hence, in order to support his family & to get good education he thought if he could get a scholarship to study. He searched for it, & on one fine he day found an advertisement related to scholarship from Chittorgarh Sainik School and that to 100%. He applied for it & got it. He said that studying from Sainik School proved to be a great blessing for him & has helped him in an immense way.
He shared with students that he cleared his 11th Exam with 6 days continuous high viral fever & even then he topped his school. He also cleared PMT in 1st attempt & was admitted to S N Medical College, Jodhpur. But due to circumstances he had to drop from his studies after completing 3 semesters from college. But he didn’t lose hope & believed that there is something better for him.
He then graduated from Arts stream. In order to support financially himself, he learned to make paintings by himself. He sold his first painting in Rs 12. He developed his skills & very soon had good name in painting industry in Jaipur. Also,his 3 paintings were selected by CRY as greeting cards & were top sellers in that year.
Exploring himself he got a chance to purchase a camera, when there were no showrooms, even people at that time have less heard about it. He learned it himself by reading its manual as there was only one institute J J School of Arts, Mumbai in India that offered a photography course. He worked hard & learned it through various magazines & books.
Following that he shared, he very soon joined a part time job at Women’s Polytechnic Jaipur. The job wasn’t so lucrative but since college had a good college of books on photography made his mind to join it.
The journey continued and later many institutes, like Pearl Academy, IIS University Jaipur, Indian Institute of Gem & jewelry & many others call him as visiting faculty for Photography. He achieved this all without a professional degree in photography.
He concluded by saying that “ if you really have passion & you believe in yourself you can achieve anything in life” &“ Never Lose Hope & faith in God”.
