Live from the press conference at Praja Vedika, Amaravati.
Out of 191 countries, only 18 (9.4%) have adopted EVMs for polling due to the lack of adequate technological safeguards.
Top scientists have admitted that EVMs are vulnerable to tampering, hacking, memory manipulation, alteration of software code, programming error etc.
In response to the petition filed by 23 political parties, the Election Commission made a misleading statement before SC claiming that counting for one assembly constituency would take at least 6 days. Even in the case of paper ballots, vote counting was done in maximum 24 hours.
It was an infringement of citizens’ voting rights in recent Andhra Pradesh polls due to a colossal failure of election machinery. EVMs malfunctioning for 2-6 hrs led to voters returning without voting. In numerous instances, VVPAT slip was shown only for 3 seconds instead of 7 seconds.
Hats off to people of Andhra Pradesh who stood in long queues for hours together to exercise their right to vote. Polling continued till late hours into the next day due to issues with EVMs, yet people stood firm with their resolve to vote despite all the problems. #AndhraPradesh#TDPPodiliOffice
