The country of Israel is set to dissolve it's Knesset, or parliament, sending voters to the polls for the fifth time in just three years, and only a year after Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's coalition majority government took power in hopes of ending the ongoing cycle of elections.
The preliminary vote to dissolve parliament is expected to take place Wednesday. It comes after Bennett's fragile coalition lost its majority earlier this year and faced rebellions from different lawmakers in recent weeks.
The attention now shifts to former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is on trial over corruption charges but also projected as the front-runner for the election. But as in the past four elections which ended up in deadlocks, there is again no guarantee his Likud party will secure the required parliamentary majority to form a new government.
People in the country are also not thrilled with the idea of another election, with some saying the current government did work for the people and an election is the "last thing" the country needs.
