I believe there is no 'best reverb', but there may be a 'best' reverb for the job. It depends on the music you like to make, but also on the source you use, the rackspace and the budget. I recently added the Strymon StarLab to my set and I am super happy with it. So in this video I use a simple sound source (the Buchla/Tiptop 258T) and try to find out which reverb adds the most magical pixie dust and sound design excitement. My personal favorite remains the Desmodus, but StarLab is amazing too. If your budget is tight you just can't go wrong with FX-AID and if you don't care much about reverbs then FX-AID again will be the best choice. It's not my no.1, but it may be the no.1 for you. If you like to experiment and do sound design, Erbe-Verb is a monster, but it just can't beat the Desmodus. If you're looking to get creative with pure realism, the ECR+ is the only convolution reverb in the batch. I'd say they're all winners here.
