I show you how to eliminate Black Algae from your swimming pool. WARNING: this treatment contains the use of highly toxic chemicals.

Please note the the instructions for use on the Algi-ban call for letting it sit on the black algae for 40-60 then brushing it off. The method shown in this video is much more effective. First, brush off the head of the Black Algae, then broadcast the Algi-ban over the Black Algae and let it sit for 24-48 with the pool off. Remember not to let it pile up in one area of the pool or this will leave a discoloration "burn mark" much like one left by dropping a 3" tablet into the pool. Use a brush if necessary to spread the granular Algi-ban out. A small amount is needed directly on the Black Algae to be effective. It has a good proximity effect, getting close to the mark works just as well. It will dissolve slowly thus spread the chemical evenly as the granular dissolves.

And please do not use in color plaster, Pebble Tec or Fiberglass pools, or you will badly stain the pool bottom.

When you broadcast the Algi-ban the air will be toxic from the dust. Please make sure you wear a gas mask. If you have a Koi Pond very near your pool the dust may get into the water and kill the fish (it is that toxic).

I prefer doing the treatment in the off season (winter, spring) when I know the pool will not be used. Chlorine levels will at toxic levels for a week or two.
