Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers a viewers question...
Q: I'm at a good skill level with a lot of my basic technique. All of the open chords are great and I know most of the basic theory, (i.e., keys, open music reading, rhythms). I'm writing in because I'd like to get some kind of an idea where to go to next. Could you suggest an "Intermediate Guitar Players Practice Tips" guide? What should I be focusing on now?
Murray - Alexander City, Alabama USA
A: Once a guitar player learns the basic ability for how to properly hold the guitar, play notes, and play chords, the next step is to start understanding how popular music concepts are laid out on the fingerboard. These include; how notes function on the neck, how complex rhythm guitar ideas work, (including triplet and sixteenth-note feels), and this involves expanding how the movable chords are laid out on the guitar neck. The Intermediate player should also study more about music theory and how they should start to experiment with finger-style guitar technique, (both, "Classical and Folk," finger-picked approaches). In this video, I will cover how to implement my; Practice Tips for Intermediate Guitar Players. Enjoy!
