In Peru, 20 people's skeletons were discovered beside a mummy.
Located in an old city on the outskirts of Lima, this male mummy was unearthed in a subterranean tomb in the year 2021. Remarkably, the mummy had been preserved so well that it became an international sensation. Archaeologists originally thought the guy was between the ages of 18 and 22 when he died, but fresh study reveals he was about 35 when he was mummified, the experts said in a statement on the find. The mummy was given the name "Chabelo" by researchers.
The bones of 12 adults and eight children were discovered in funeral bundles. Researchers believe that some of the infants may have been sacrificed as part of a burial ceremony since they show signs of violence, such as fractures.
When the team examines the bodies, they plan to use DNA and radiocarbon dating to learn more about them and how long they have been there.
When the guy lived roughly 1,000 years ago, Cajamarquilla had four pyramids. People from the coastal and highland regions of Peru used it as a hub for commerce at the time. Archaeologists, however, said that barely 1% of the site had been explored.
As there is no evidence of a writing system from that period, academics must depend mostly on archaeological evidence to learn about life in Peru at the time. By the time of publishing, Van Dalen Luna had not responded to our request for comment.
