Edith Friedlander (nee Kauefler) was born in Vienna in 1922. After the Anschluss of Austria, the family moved to Prague. In May 1942, she was deported with her mother to Theresienstadt. Shortly after, both women were deported to Auschwitz, where Edith’s mother was murdered. Later, Edith escaped to Prague.
