Business Capability is the expression or the articulation of the capacity, materials, and expertise an organization needs in order to perform core functions. Enterprise Architects use Business Capabilities to illustrate the over-arching needs of the business to better strategize IT solutions that meet those business needs. As a tool, Business Capability models enable the discussion of strategic invest or divest, and they can be served as the structuring element to uncover redundancies in IT. It allows companies to see what a business does to reach their goals.
