I certainly didn’t until learning about Clear Lake in Oregon! (also called lake born of fire) It was formed many years ago when hot lava flowing from Sand Mountain reached the McKenzie River. It blocked the river causing the water to overflow it banks submerging the surrounding trees in the process.

From a distance the lake looks a gorgeous dark blue but up close that clear water is unlike anything I’ve ever seen!
