Romeoville Aquatic Center Holds Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
The Romeoville Aquatic Center, located at 630 Townhall Drive, is now officially open following a ribbon cutting ceremony. The nearly 22,000 square foot facility features over 11,000 square feet of indoor aquatic fun. Amenities include locker rooms with showers, 270 public lockers, two ADA family changing areas, and two multi-purpose party rooms. The indoor pool has a zero depth entry, interactive play area, 42” deep activity pool, volleyball net, basketball hoops, a 20 foot tall, 150 foot long illuminated water slide, a 3 lane, 20 yard lap pool, and current channel and vortex pool for leisure and exercise.
A number of classes are being offered at this new facility including swim lessons for all ages (starting at 6 months and going through adulthood) and aquatic fitness. In addition, you can book pool parties or rent out the whole facility for a private event. More information on these classes and rentals can be found in the recreation brochure and at www.romeoville.org/aquatics.
Regular pool hours of operation are Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 1:00 pm; 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm, Saturday 6:00 am – 8:00 pm, and Sunday 9:30 am – 6:30 pm. Hours are subject to change seasonally, so please consult www.romeoville.org/aquatics for the most up to date operating schedule.
“This pool has been a long time coming and we are thrilled to invite everyone in to enjoy it,” said Mayor John Noak. “The Village of Romeoville offers a tremendous amount of options for those who wish to exercise: paths, parks, sports fields, indoor courts, and now a pool.”
Next to the indoor pool is an outdoor splash pad, which opened on August 19. The 2,600 square foot outdoor splash pad is free to access and has seating with lounge areas and shade sails, over 50 spray features, and four dedicated changing rooms with showers (two are ADA accessible).
