Simple Holiday Mulled Wine Recipe
Ingredients:
1 bottle of red wine (Merlot or Zinfandel recommended)
1 orange, sliced into rounds
2-3 cinnamon sticks
4-5 whole cloves
2 star anise
1-2 tablespoons honey or brown sugar (adjust to taste)
Instructions:
Prep the Orange: Slice the orange into rounds to release its citrus oils and flavor.
Combine Ingredients: In a medium-sized saucepan, pour the bottle of red wine. Add the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, and honey or brown sugar.
Warm the Wine: Set the heat to low and gently warm the mixture. Avoid boiling to preserve the delicate flavors and aromas. Let it warm for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve and Garnish: Ladle the mulled wine into mugs or heatproof glasses. For a festive touch, garnish with an orange slice or a cinnamon stick.
