Hey everyone, Charles here at etrailer, and today, we're taking a look at the pewag Servo RS Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains on the 2021 Kia Forte. This is gonna be your diamond pattern style tire chain, and it's gonna give you that really smooth ride and that awesome traction. As compared to your ladder style tire chain, that's gonna be a lot more bumpy, you're gonna have your dips in your valleys, 'cause it's gonna be chain, tire, chain, tire, but with a diamond pattern, you have a lot more coverage, and it's mostly just the chain on the snow or ice. The square links add that extra traction and to break through the ice, especially compared to the roller style, those are gonna give you a smoother ride, but these are just solid and it's gonna give you that extra traction. So some of the things I like about these pewags is the coating on the chains right here towards the rim, just extra protection against your rim right there, and I do like the simple installation, I wouldn't mind doing this outside in the weather as opposed to your ladder style chains where you'd have to go on your stomach or your back and reach around there. Very quick and simple to install, and I like the self-tensioning mechanism right here, you don't have to purchase a separate self-tensioner, it's just all included in the package here, as well as some more added protection for your rim with these covers right here.
These pewag snow tire chains are going to come with this durable case right here. I know a lot of the other snow tire chains come in a bag similar to this where it can just rip and tear really easily, and it's also a pain to get these back in the bag, but with these, it's just very simple, plop them in there and you're good to go. It's quick and easy, simple to install, and I know it's durable and gonna last me a long time, plus, since I have low clearance on the wheel wells over here, the low profile makes it perfect for my Kia. To begin our installation, we're gonna lay the tire chains out flat, making sure there are no kinks in our links. And something real quick to note, on this part right here, there is a smooth side and then a jagged side, we wanna make sure that the smooth side is resting against our wheel wells.
So when I lay it out flat, the smooth side is facing up, and then I'm just gonna slide it back. Start with the first connection, and we're just gonna insert it at an angle, and then pull it towards us and it is secure. So my first connection's this red hook and the red loop, and once I have that secure, I'm gonna go ahead and make the adjustments necessary to get the straight part of the chain in the center part of the tire. From here, we are going to make sure that this is turned to the open part, pull down for the slack, and thread these two connections through, and then all you have to do is click it into place. And then we're just gonna hop in the vehicle, roll over it a couple times, and come back out.
