The British Council #TheClimateConnection held a video competition for schools on the topic of Climate Action.
The well-deserved winner is AlMojtaba School, Lebanon with this fantastic project: The Green Spell.
"In this video, the narrator, Fatima H. tells the story entitled “The Green Spell about a school which is located in suburban areas which is almost deprived green areas and describes the situation of the school. Now, the school embodied by the student Hussein N. complains in grief the absence of trees and plants in its yard. In addition to being surrounded by buildings and situated in a noisy and polluted place. Meanwhile, the narrator continues to illustrate how the student, played by Mohammed N., reacted to this situation. The student explained about the project they started with the help of their teachers where students stated by spreading awareness about the importance of green plants in minimizing the greenhouse effect. How they continued their work with different students from different cycles to plant in all the possible areas and made a mini-garden in the corner of the playground. In this time, the student, Fatima H. playing the role of a plant explains how green plants can reduce the harmful effect of greenhouse gases by absorbing carbon dioxide gas and releasing oxygen gas into the atmosphere. The plant asks all the students of this school to continue planting trees and earn the positive effects of their work. Finally, the narrator ends the story by telling to check the change in the school’s condition after finishing this project. The school thanks all those who contributed in turning it into a green school. "
